ETI Survival Systems
Survival Kits For Vehicles, Aircraft and Personal Use
Vehicle and Aircraft Survival Systems
Every year many people are killed or injured in cold weather related accidents. Many of these accidents occur in vehicles or aircraft and most are preventable. Victims of these types of accidents suffer because of two factors: lack of education and lack of preparation.
The typical cold weather accident usually occurs after a vehicle becomes stalled or an aircraft has made an emergency landing because of severe weather or mechanical failure. Many of the actual deaths and injuries to the victims occur from the effects of hypothermia or carbon monoxide poisoning. Many of these accidental deaths could be prevented with basic information and proper survival gear.
A functional survival system must be effective in preventing hypothermia and reduce the exposure to carbon monoxide gases. ETI's survival systems are designed for 2-4 people and accomplish these objectives.
This survival system is intended for use inside of a vehicle or aircraft and actually uses the structure itself as the main component for the thermal shelter. Our products have been designed to minimize weight and bulk and include only items that are most essential to survival. The items in the system are grouped to fulfill the essential areas of survival. These are shelter, heat, water, food, light, signaling, tools, and medical.
Standard Vehicle Survival System
The system is based on the concept that during a cold weather emergency the occupants should stay in the vehicle until they can safely leave or are rescued. The main component of the system is the SafeShelter®. The SafeShelter® is a fabric enclosure made from Tyvek®, an extremely durable, water resistant and breathable fabric. The SafeShelter® is suspended from the inside of the front or back seat areas of a vehicle and when in place provides a space large enough to accommodate two to three people. The enclosed area is heated with long burning candles to maintain proper temperature. When in operation the temperature inside the SafeShelter® is considerably higher than in other parts of the vehicle. A high calorie food source and emergency water supply are also included. Two light sources are provided as well as a signaling mirror. Basic first aid items are part of this complete system which comes packaged in a soft fabric bag.
